Coach Savell has served as director and coach for 16 seasons - leading the Dragons to unprecedented national success at some of the most prestigious regattas in collegiate rowing.
Last season, Coach Savell’s team won every major Philadelphia region cup -Including sweeping the Varsity 8, the 2nd Varsity 8, and the 3rd Varsity 8 at the Dad Vail Regatta - Claiming both the men’s point title and overall points title.
His women’s team had its best-ever finish last year at the CAA championships tying for first place with 3 athletes earning all-conference honors - And the women’s novice 8 won gold at the Dad Vail Regatta.
The team clinched the men’s points title with a win in the Varsity 8. The Dragons also claimed the gold medal in the second varsity 8 and Novice 8.
Under his tutelage, Coach Savell has guided Drexel to 56 of the program’s 75 total Dad Vail Medals.
In Addition to his strong successes on the water- under Coach Savell, The Dragons have earned numerous individual academic honors in the classroom, being named members of The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar-Athletes and IRA All-Academic Team Selections.
