After completing his degree in 1979 from Baylor University, Jack worked in local community and faith-based recreation and sports in Texas and Alabama. He organized leagues and coached both adult and youth sports, including basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball. In 1992 he began a 16-year career working internationally in Malawi, Cyprus, Russia and Turkey. As a consultant with Global Sports Partners, Jack was involved in athlete development, teaching physical education, officiating, and coaching sports.  He coached and officiated  basketball in Lilongwe, Malawi, serving as an assistant coach to the Malawian National Men's Team at the 1995 All-Africa Games. He coached volleyball and taught physical education at the university level and a number of international private schools in Malawi, Cyprus and Turkey. At Bogazici University in Istanbul he established sports clubs for baseball/softball and ultimate frisbee. He facilitated several "American football" camps for Turkish football players, bringing in coaches from the USA to provide instruction and training. In 2007 he was named as an assistant coach to the under 12 boys Turkish baseball team. Jack has been a guest speaker for sports and physical activity training clinics in Russia, Israel, Georgia, Algeria and Qatar.

In 2008, he returned to Texas and began work on his master's degree in curriculum and instruction at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) in Texas. During this time Jack coached and officiated in local school and community sports. In 2011 he began work as an adjunct instructor in both the Department of Curriculum & Instruction and the Department of Kinesiology at SHSU. His teaching areas included physical education teacher education, physical activity for individuals with disabilities, motor learning and human development. In 2019, he earned his PhD from The University of Texas at Austin.

Jack's primary role at Temple University is to administrate the Kinesiology Physical Activity Program (KPAP), providing leadership and supervision to 40 adjunct instructors, and to provide direction for over 90 sections of various physical activity classes to almost 2,000 students.
